Living in San Mateo County has many perks! There are beautiful parks and many places to take family and friends. But when it comes to dogs, where is the best place to take these furry friends? Here is a list of the best places to take your dogs on a nice day!

Junipero Serra Park, San Bruno

This low-key park is located in the hills of San Bruno. It’s a great spot for family picnics and the trails in this park have great views of the bay! Not to mention, there’s also a 54-foot slide and two play structures that are a highlight for kids. Junipero Serra Park started allowing dogs on a leash in 2019 so this is a perfect place to walk your dog and see some beautiful views!

Pillar Point Bluff, Moss Beach

This 220-acre bluff top has amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. The Jean Lauer Trail at Pillar Point Bluff is a great trail for dog walkers. Part of this trail joins the California Coastal Trail and has a great view of the Mavericks surf break. This is a great trail for dogs as the trail is wide and mostly flat. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach, only the bluff.

Devil’s Slide Trail, Pacifica

This trail was originally a section of Highway 1 and is now a 1.3-mile paved trail! This trail is part of the California Coastal Trail and it offers great views of the coastal erosion. This is a great trail for a leisurely walk with your dog. It’s also a perfect spot for whale and bird watching.

Coyote Point Recreation Area, San Mateo

This is one of the most popular parks in San Mateo County! There are so many activities to do here: swimming, windsurfing, bicycling, fishing, and don't forget the dragon-themed Magic Mountain Playground for kids! Bring your dog on a walk here along the Bay Trail and other posted trails. Dogs were also approved on these trails in 2019 so enjoy this wonderful walk with your dog! Keep in mind that a small portion of this trail is not allowed to dogs to protect wildlife there.
